Art and Kristina were both born and raised in Vilnius, Lithuania, where Kristina earned her degree in Music Science and History at the Lithuanian Music Academy and Art earned a Masters Degree in Political Economics from the University of Vilnius.

After graduation, Kristina worked as a high school music teacher and television actress. Soon her entrepreneurial spirit carried her into the business world, first as a Regional Marketing Director for Oriflame Cosmetics, then as an advertising executive for Verslo Zinios, a prominent business news publication, and then as Special Events and Public Relations Manager for Nybogaard Hotel & Country Club in Denmark.

Art was a hard currency arbitrageur and head trader for the Vilnius branch of the Soviet Union Inter Exchange Bank. In 1986, he immigrated to the United States and joined Drexel, Burnham, Lambert, Inc. His investment career led him to firms such as M.L. Stern & Co., Inc., a boutique bond-trading firm in Beverly Hills, Prudential Securities, Inc., in Century City, and Merrill Lynch in Beverly Hills, where he served as Vice President of Investments in the Private Client Group and managed over $100,000,000 in assets.
